Our Public Contracts, Projects and Privatizations practice has a strong record of expert work and benefits of a team of specialists that have been involved in many outstanding deals across a spectrum of industries including energy, substantial infrastructure projects, oil, planning, property, tourism and transport. Our clients have included international banks, financial institutions, multinational corporations and public sector entities. Our particular strength lies in our long record of participation in the consultation stages for governmental agencies and legislators. In this capacity we have often been able to influence public policy decisions and earned ourselves a reputation as shapers of legal developments.
In addition to that ICAZA, GONZALEZ-RUIZ & ALEMAN has been acting for sponsors and host-authorities of the public sector as well as for private parties such as developers, investors, commercial purchasers, contractors, and concessionaires. This allows us to be aware of the different perspectives and expectations of each of the parties that can be involved in the various types of public contracts and privatization deals. Our involvement typically could start by informing the legal structure for the process, advising on regulatory, compliance and all the related legal and commercial issues, negotiating and drafting the agreement terms, onwards to conclusion. Further value is added by the services of our capital markets specialists.
A ground breaking legal development on which we are currently advising is the redeployment of the former U.S. Air Force Howard Air Base to the private sector following the Canal Treaties. This is a project called for by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group.
