Estefanía Alemán

Estefanía Alemán

Estefanía Alemán is the General Manager of Icaza Trust Corporation and holds a position in its Board of Directors. She was also appointed partner of Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán in 2023.

She is a founding member and President of the “Asociación de Empresas Fiduciarias de Panamá”, an organization constituted by Panamanian trust companies which end is to work together to promote Panama as an international financial center and to strengthen the Panamanian jurisdiction’s anti-money laundering and corporate governance processes to create a transparent and robust environment to host financial transactions.

As General Manager and Director of Icaza Trust Corporation, Estefanía leads a team of over fifteen staff members and supervises the administration of more than one hundred and fifty trusts. She heads the constitution, implementation, and administration of estate planning and commercial trusts, including administration, payment source, credit, and public trusts. In addition, Estefanía directs and leads processes such as preparing legal documentation of the trusts, developing their process manuals, and their daily operation.

Her wide range of expertise also includes developing administrative and operational controls of fiduciary procedures and the supervision and control of risk mitigation and anti-money laundering processes related to the provision of services by the trust company.

Moisés Iván Rivera A.

Moises Ivan Rivera A., is a partner at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán with 11 years of experience in Litigation & ADR, Commercial Strategy, Trademarks, Patents, utility models, industrial designs, slogans, copyrights, trade and domain names, data protection, and acquisitions. He also specializes in Consumer Protection & Competition and Maritime Law.

Moises has a high level of effectiveness in building up legal strategies concerning corporate and transnational clients. His expertise in Trademark Litigation (oppositions and Nullity and Cancellation proceedings, Unfair Competition, Civil and Criminal proceedings regarding IP), Brand Protection, and Anti-Counterfeiting allow him to actively contribute to the positive results obtained by Icaza, Gonzalez-Ruiz & Aleman’s for its local and international clients within the administrative, civil and criminal areas of Intellectual Property.

Mariano Oteiza Díaz has been an associate specializing in corporate and administrative law at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán since 2011 and was named partner in 2021. He has more than ten years of experience in corporate services and the areas of Asset Protection and Tax.

As part of the firm’s international services team, he enjoys most of his day-to-day work by interacting with colleagues and maintaining permanent contact with clients from other jurisdictions. Ana Graciela Medina

Ana Graciela Medina began her career at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán in 1998, being named Partner in 2013. She provides solid legal support to a large number of clients as Director of the Immigration and Naturalization Department, Director of the Real Estate and Tourism Department, and as part of the Public Contracting team. She also provides specialized professional services in corporate, real estate, tourism, and investment projects. In addition, she has extensive experience in New Technologies Law, Data and Software Legal Protection, I.T. contracts, and Banking Systems.

Ana Graciela is currently a member of the Immigration Law Commission of the National Bar Association.

Among her representative work, she has acted as legal advisor for: immigration matters for the company CHEC Panamá, S.A. (China Harbour Engineering Company), which is in charge of Phase III of the Expansion of the Port of Balboa and the Cruise Port of Amador; Legal Counsel for the company First Quantum Minerals, which is in charge of the Copper Mine Project in Donoso, Province of Colon, Legal Counsel for leading companies that are part of the Panama Canal Expansion Project awarded to the Consortium Grupo Unidos por el Canal, such as JAN DE NUL N.V., SACYR, TECOZAM, GRUAS DEL PACIFICO, GLOBAL BUSINESS, among others.

Alexis V. Herrera Jr.

Alexis Herrera Jr. is a partner at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán, with more than twenty-five years of experience. He specializes in Public Procurement, Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Law, Maritime Law, Environmental Law, Labor Law, and E-Commerce.

He is the partner in charge of the Mergers & Acquisitions and Public Procurement departments. He has advised the Panamanian government and business groups in public bidding and financing processes, as well as for M&A transactions in the areas of energy, infrastructure, and trading.

Alexis is also part of the team of arbitrators for labor matters at the Panama Canal Authority.
