Karen Y. Tejeira S.

Karen Tejeira has been an Associate of the Labor Department at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán since 2017.

Karen is a specialist in the calculation of liquidation of labor rights and benefits, labor audits, Internal Labor Regulations, and in all types of proceedings before the Social Security Fund, including employer registrations before this Institution, closing of operations before the Social Security Fund, among other proceedings.

Recently, she contributed to Lexology’s Getting The Deal Through guide in the Panama Labor 2021 chapter.

Karen is a member of the National Bar Association.

Eduardo A. Flores B.

Eduardo Flores has been an Associate at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán since 2017.

JAVIER VALLARINO

Javier José Vallarino

Javier José Vallarino is a partner at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán. With over twenty years of experience, he specializes in labor counseling and social security matters, drafting various labor documents, negotiating collective labor agreements, and labor litigation, providing these services to important Panamanian and international companies.

Since July 2008, he has been the head of Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán’s labor department, providing comprehensive labor and social security advice to banks, construction companies, ports, multinational corporations, power generation companies, among others.

Javier has also worked as Labor Advisor of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture of Panama for several years. In addition, he has extensive experience as a lecturer and university professor. He has served as a professor in the Department of Labor Law and Social Security at the Universidad Santa María La Antigua (USMA), and has participated as a lecturer in important events organized by companies, business associations, and diplomatic headquarters.

His memberships include Panama’s Bar Association, the Panamanian Academy of Labor Law, and the National Association of Human Resources Professionals of Panama.

For the past three years, Javier has been recognized as a leader in his field by the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association (LACCA).

Alexis Herrera Jr.

Alexis V. Herrera Jr.

Alexis Herrera Jr. is a partner at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán, with more than twenty-five years of experience. He specializes in Public Procurement, Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Law, Maritime Law, Environmental Law, Labor Law, and E-Commerce.

He is the partner in charge of the Mergers & Acquisitions and Public Procurement departments. He has advised the Panamanian government and business groups in public bidding and financing processes, as well as for M&A transactions in the areas of energy, infrastructure, and trading.

Alexis is also part of the team of arbitrators for labor matters at the Panama Canal Authority.

Partner at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán since 1991, Joaquin Díaz, specializes in Corporate Law, Labor Law, Panama Private Interest Foundations, and Company Formation.

Joaquin is a member of the arbitrators list of the Panama Canal for labor disputes under arbitration. He is an active member of the Panama Bar Association, the German Chamber of Commerce of Panama and the Panama Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.

In recent years, he has been involved in the discussion of Panama’s legislation regarding Beneficial Ownership and Accounting Records.
