Moisés Iván Rivera A.

Moises Ivan Rivera A., is a partner at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán with 11 years of experience in Litigation & ADR, Commercial Strategy, Trademarks, Patents, utility models, industrial designs, slogans, copyrights, trade and domain names, data protection, and acquisitions. He also specializes in Consumer Protection & Competition and Maritime Law.

Moises has a high level of effectiveness in building up legal strategies concerning corporate and transnational clients. His expertise in Trademark Litigation (oppositions and Nullity and Cancellation proceedings, Unfair Competition, Civil and Criminal proceedings regarding IP), Brand Protection, and Anti-Counterfeiting allow him to actively contribute to the positive results obtained by Icaza, Gonzalez-Ruiz & Aleman’s for its local and international clients within the administrative, civil and criminal areas of Intellectual Property.

Moises is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) participating in the Anti-Counterfeiting committee (2024-2025), the Panamanian Association of Intellectual Property Law (APADEPI) acting as Sub-Secretary of the Board of Directors (2023-2024), and the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) named Panama National Delegate (2023-2025). In addition, he is currently the Vice-President of the Intellectual Property Commission of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) – Panama Chapter and actively participates in Panama’s Bar Association.

Moises has also taken part in the panel of experts advising the National Customs Authority in the amendments to the current legislation related to the Customs Procedures related to counterfeit goods.

JAVIER VALLARINO

Javier José Vallarino

Javier José Vallarino is a partner at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán. With over twenty years of experience, he specializes in labor counseling and social security matters, drafting various labor documents, negotiating collective labor agreements, and labor litigation, providing these services to important Panamanian and international companies.

Since July 2008, he has been the head of Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán’s labor department, providing comprehensive labor and social security advice to banks, construction companies, ports, multinational corporations, power generation companies, among others.

Javier has also worked as Labor Advisor of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture of Panama for several years. In addition, he has extensive experience as a lecturer and university professor. He has served as a professor in the Department of Labor Law and Social Security at the Universidad Santa María La Antigua (USMA), and has participated as a lecturer in important events organized by companies, business associations, and diplomatic headquarters.

His memberships include Panama’s Bar Association, the Panamanian Academy of Labor Law, and the National Association of Human Resources Professionals of Panama.

For the past three years, Javier has been recognized as a leader in his field by the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association (LACCA).

Carlos Villalobos has been associate at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán since 2004 and was appointed partner in 2022. Carlos has over twenty years of experience  in Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution. He has completed studies in Civil Procedural Law and the Criminal Accusatory System of Panama.

Marisol Ellis

Marisol T. Ellis A.

With more than twenty years of experience, Marisol Ellis provides legal advice to important Panamanian and international companies. She has worked as an Associate at Icaza, González-Ruíz & Alemán since 2004 as part of the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Division, and was named partner in 2022. Marisol belongs to the list of arbitrators of the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CeCAP).

Due to her work, she has been recognized as a leader in the area of Litigation by international legal services guides such as Chambers & Partners.

Marisol has extensive experience as a panelist and lecturer. She has taught International Law, Commercial Law, Banking Law, and Bankruptcy Proceedings in local universities at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition, she has participated as a lecturer in important Arbitration and Litigation events in Panama and abroad.

Her memberships include the Panama Bar Association, the Latin American Arbitration Association (ALARB), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Panama Chapter and Arbitration Committee, and the Spanish Arbitration Club – Panama Chapter.
