Roberto Alemán has been a partner at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán since 1987, and he is now member of our partners of counsel. He specializes in Corporate Law and Trust Services.

Joel Medina

Joel R. Medina

Joel Medina has been a partner at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán since 1973, and is currently a member of the partners of counsel. He specializes in Maritime Law and Corporate Law.

He has been part of the drafting committee for legislation in maritime matters, and served as General Coordinator and member of the National Council for the Development of the Maritime Sector and as an alternate judge in the Maritime Court.

Joel is a member of the Panamanian Association of Maritime Law, currently serving as Chairman of the Former Presidents Committee. He is also a member of the Iberoamerican Institute of Maritime Law, and the Maritime International Committee.

He has been recognized as a leader in his field by Chambers and Partners, and in 2021, he received the Eduardo Morgan medal by the Panama Bar Association in recognition of his outstanding and notorious performance as a legal professional and the effort he has been making for 48 years in benefit of the administration of justice in Panama.

Francisco González-Ruiz

Francisco González-Ruiz A.

Francisco González-Ruiz has been a partner at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán since 1987, and is now a member of the partners of counsel. He specializes in Administrative Law, Corporate Law, and Intellectual Property.

He has participated in the discussion and drafting of laws on Industrial Property.

Francisco is a member of the Panamanian Association of Intellectual Property Law (APADEPI) and the Panama Bar Association.

In 2020, the Panama Bar Association recognized him with the Eduardo Morgan medal due to his outstanding performance as a legal professional for over 45 in benefit of the organization and the country.

He has also been recognized as a highly regarded lawyer by IFLR1000.

In his spare time, he enjoys photography, baseball, and bullfighting.

Alexis V. Herrera

Alexis V. Herrera V.

Partner of Counsel Alexis Herrera V. specializes in Banking and Finance, Capital Markets, Insurance and Re-Insurance and Trust Services.

Over the course of his career, he participated in several commissions in charge of legislation such as the Judicial Code, and was a member of the department of jurisdical research at the University of Panama.

JUAN TEJADA MORA

Juan A. Tejada Mora

Partner of counsel, Juan Tejada Mora specializes in Corporate Law.

He was the founding president of the Panama chapter of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and he participated in the drafting of legislation of Trust Law and advised the government in the admendments to the legislation of the Banking system which established the Superintendence of Banks.

Juan also held the position of Alternate Justice of the Panama Supreme Court of Justice.

He is a member of the Panama Bar Association and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
